Beginning in 1890, Barry Slosberg’s grandfather and then his father were leading antique dealers and appraisers in the Philadelphia area.
Barry’s expertise today began with the instruction, experience and ethical standards he gained under years of their tutelage. During the early 70’s he took over management of the antique and appraisal business, expanding its services to include all of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, today providing services nationally.
By the mid 1970’s Barry believed that adding auction sales would provide a valuable advantage to clients and so by 1976 he became a licensed and bonded auctioneer. For almost thirty years he has conducted over 125 auctions annually, selling real estate and antiques and liquidating business and estate assets. This volume and diversification enables him to remain conversant with current prices and market values and is why he is often called on as an expert jury witness.
With both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Temple University, Barry continues his ongoing professional education and senior status with The American Society of Appraisers and the Certified Auctioneers Institute. He is also an active member of the National and State Auctioneer’s Association.
Barry has also provided his antique expertise and auctioneering services for many charities, schools and organizations as a sought after educator and lecturer.
