Oldrich Otto Farsky (1860-1930) o/b Peasant Woman w/Sickle, in the style of Jean-Francois Millet. A single female figure in traditional French dress, standing in a field, holding a sickle and looking to the viewer's left, a basket at her feet. On reverse in pencil: "Mrs M. E. Greenbaum 3201 Rhodes Ave"; a Mr & Mrs Greenbaum are recorded at 3201 S Rhodes Ave, Chicago at the turn of the 20th c, making this likely the name of an early owner of the work. In a modern (late 20th c) frame. Size: braod is 9.25" X 12.25", frame is 17" X 20". CONDITION: Slight craquelure to sky, one minute paint loss in sky to left of figure. There's a slight smudging to the face of the figure, close examination of the paint surface shows a slight softness in that area, perhaps only in the varnish.
