Dr. Samuel Alexander Mudd's surgical scissors, rotating cylinder surgical scissors 5 1/4" flat-blade design of 1863 with elevated finger rings. Wide narrow blades designed for amputation of human tissue. Owned by Dr. Samuel Alexander Mudd (1833-1883) of Bryantown Maryland and later by his grandson Dr. Richard Mudd (deceased May 21st 2002) who confirmed these scissors were used on April 15th, 1865 to cut John Wilkes Booth's leg tissue when Dr. Mudd set his broken leg.
