Achille Parvillee Etching "La Voulzie". An etching with aquatint by artist, ceramist and decorator Achille Parvillee (French, 19th c.), titled "La Voulzie" of a narrow creek or canal. The title comes from the poem by Hegesippe Moreau (1810-1838), a line of which is quoted at the bottom of the image. Signed (in Faux Asian characters which are actually the artist's name) in upper left. retail label from the gallery of P. Ceuzel, Prue Fontaine, Paris, on reverse. A copy of this print was #4355 in the Paris Salon of 1884. Size: 9.675" X 17.675", frame is 19.375" X 28.25". CONDITION: Some toning to image, otherwise apparently fine (it appears there was once a mat on the image which was removed); not examined out of frame.
